The Cherokee Trail of Tears Tribute Rifle
What a day, I have been here there and every where.
"Before Stars and Stripes" putting on loads of new stuff, a
nd I must admit I am a bit pleased with the way it has gone.
There are a couple more stories at the "Happy Nappy Nursery" and "Penny Prudence",
has had new additions to it.
I think that is all here in
Dreamland though I'm not certain.

Marbleizing EggsIn Seligor's Castle. Pastimes 4 U
has taken in some fantastic new things to do and make.
If the earth hatched from a giant egg, as the ancient Persians
believed, it might have resembled one of these in our dreamy dozen.
We
used a simple dyeing technique to create the intricate swirls of color:
earthy brown twisting over baby blue, soft beige afloat on buttery
yellow.
Every Easter egg made this way is one of a kind -- all are

enchanting
.
Plus the odd poem and nursery rhyme here and there.

Today we have added a new web page to Dreamland, it's for all the small myths and legends.

Welsh DragonThe Wizard and the Curious Cats

of Betws y Coed

As you all know Diddily is Welsh and lives in a tiny village called Pontybodkyn which is quite a way from Betws, but when I was a young girl, I lived in a small village called Bontnewydd not far from the famous Cefn Caves where I have set several of my stories, both here in Dreamland and also in Seligor's Castle.
I know many Welsh legends and at one time I spent a long time doing research for publishers on the said stories. But now my time is spent in entertaining all the children and adults who come to visit both Dreamland and the Castle.
Now as we all know, animals, cats in particular can get up to some terrible antics and I have decided to tell you the story of two cats that used to live in an Innon the side of the road near to Betws itself. When this story first came about, Betws y Coed was a lot smaller than it is today in 2008. There was very little transport, and the old horse and cart and feet took a lot longer to get about and so visitors very often stopped at the local Inns over night. Here is the story of one such Inn.
Looking for pictures I have come across the story already written out and as I could add no more to it I would like to thank
E2BN who have the most delicious website.

And Now For The Tale.
Snowdonia landscape
Long, long ago, on the side of the old road leading from Betws-y-Coed to
Cerrigydrudion, there stood an old inn. The inn was very popular with travellers
making their way back and forth from Ireland.
However, those staying at the Inn often went

away much poorer for, during the night, their money would mysteriously
vanish.

The Wonderful World of Dragons.

AngerDragon's Nine Sons

According to legend the Dragon had nine sons, and each had a strong
personality.
There is no general agreement as to what the Dragon's

sons are called. However, to most people, they are:

  1. Haoxian
A reckless and adventuous dragon whose image can be found
      decorating the eaves of palaces.

  2. Yazi
Valiant and bellicose; his image is seen on sword-hilts and knife hilts.

  3. Chiwen
Chiwen likes to gaze into the distance and his appearance
      is often carved on pinnacles.

  4. Baxia
Baxia is a good swimmer and his image decorates many
      bridge piers and archways.

  5. Pulao
Pulao is fond of roaring and his figure is carved on bells.

  6. Bixi
Bixi is an excellent pack-animal whose image appears on panniers.

  7. Qiuniu
Qiuniu loves music and his figure is a common decoration on the bridge of
      stringed musical instruments.

  8. Suanmi
Suanmi is fond of smoke and fire; his likeness can be seen on the legs of
      incense-burners.

  9. Jiaotu
Jiaotu is as tight-lipped as a mussel or a snail. His image
      is carved on doors.

The SECRET TRAVELS of
SARAH SAGE

Sara found these little facts when she
visited China on the internet.

You scream, I scream, who want's Ice scream?

Ice cream was invented in China around 2000BC
when the Chinese packed a soft milk and rice mixture
in the snow.

China is the fourth largest country in the world.
China is sometimes a day ahead of the United States.

The Chinese year is based on the cycles of the moon.
This is called a lunar schedule.
A complete cycle of the Chinese calendar takes 60 years.
The Chinese calendar dates back to 2600 B.C.

It is the oldest known calendar.

Each year is represented by an animal.
There are twelve animals which represent the twelve months.

According to readings Buddha named the years after the twelve animals that came to visit him before he left the earth.

The Chinese believe that you have some of the characteristics of the animal representing the year in which you were born.

You scream, I scream, who want's Ice scream?

When a Chinese child loses a baby tooth,
it doesn't get tucked under the pillow for the tooth fairy.

If the child loses an upper tooth,
the child's parents plant the tooth in the ground,
so the new tooth will grow in straight and healthy.

Parents toss a lost bottom tooth up to the rooftops,
so that the new tooth will grow upwards , too.

It is considered good luck for the gate to a house to face south.

We know that the Chinese grew rice as long as 5000 BC
Archaeologists have found rice grains in farming tools and pots from that period.

Long ago, silk making was a closely guarded secret.
Anyone who gave the secret away could be killed.

At one time,
Chinese patriots hoped to rid themselves of hated foreign conquerors.
To announce the time of an uprising, the patriots hid messages in moon cakes.

Red is considered a lucky color in China.
At one time wedding dresses were red.
New Year's banners, clothing, and lucky money envelopes are still red.

with thanks for these little facts, they are wonderful.

The Jelly Baby, the Smartie and the Lockets

 soft jelly baby

The Jelly Baby, the Smartie and the Lockets.

A Jelly Baby walks into a bar and starts talking to a Smartie. After a few beers the Smartie says, "Ere, a bunch of us are heading to that new club, fancy tagging along?"

The Jelly Baby says, "No mate, I'm a soft centre, I always end up getting my head kicked in."

So Smartie says, "Don't worry about it, I'm a bit of a hard case, I'll look after you."

Jelly Baby thinks about it for a minute and says, "Fair enough, as long as you'll look after me", and off they go.

After a few more beers in the club, three Lockets walk in. As soon as he sees them, Smartie hides under the table.

The Lockets take one look at Jelly Baby and start kicking him, breaking cola bottles over his little jelly head, lamping him with little sugary chairs, and generally having a laugh. After a while they get bored and walk out.

Jelly Baby pulls his battered Jelly Baby body over to the table and wipes up his Jelly Baby blood and turns to Smartie and says, "I thought you were going to look after me."

I was!" says Smartie,

"But those Lockets are menthol"
